Learn to Speak English Easily: Using ‘was’, with ‘I’, ‘He’ and ‘She’

In the previous unit you have learnt to make Questions using ‘are’. In this unit you will learn “Using ‘was’ with ‘I’, ‘he’ and ‘she’“.

Was’ is the past tense of ‘is’. We use ‘was’ with ‘I’, ‘he’, ‘she’, or with ‘name of a person’ to talk about the past. We use ‘was‘ —

  • To talk about oneself in reference to the past we use ‘was’ with ‘I’. To talk about the other person we use ‘was’ with ‘he’ or ‘she’ or a name.

I was an officer.
He was an actor.
She was a director.

Gandhi was a great man.
