Questions Using ‘was’ with ‘this’, ‘that’, and ‘there’

We can make questions beginning with ‘Was‘, using  ‘this’, ‘that’, ‘it’, ‘Was …….here’ and ‘Was there’. For such questions, one can answer in the positive or in the negative. One can answer in different ways as given in the following example.

Was this a theatre?
Yes.
Yes, this was.
Yes, this was a theatre.

No, this wasn’t.

Was that your school?
Yes.
Yes, that was.
Yes, that was our school.

Was Rajesh here yesterday?
