Learn to Speak English Fluently: Questions with ‘Can’ and ‘Could’

To know more read: How to Use the Course Content? In the previous unit you have learnt the Use of ‘Can’ and ‘Could’  and in this unit  you will learn to make questions with ‘Can‘ and ‘Could‘.

We can make questions beginning with ‘Can’ and ‘Could’. For such questions, one can answer in the positive or in the negative. One can answer in different ways as given in the following examples.

Can I come with you?
Yes.
Yes, you can.
Yes, you can come with me.
No.
No, you can’t.
No, you can’t come with me.

Could you help him?
Yes.
Yes, I could.
Yes, I could help him.
No.
No, I couldn’t.
No, I couldn’t help him.

Exercise: Answer the following questions using the above example.

Can I use your laptop?
Can we reach there in time?
Can you help me in lifting this bag?
Can he teach English well?
Can John win the election?
Can they come on Sunday?
Could I speak to the manager?
Could we borrow some money?
Could you please move a little?
Could he finish the job?
Could they solve the problem?

Exercise: Write more questions and answers using the example, which you can use in your day-to-day conversation and practice orally.
